Spencer Mayfield, 2016

White Plains High School, Section 1

 

Spencer Mayfield has been head coach at White Plains High School for 22 years winning 333 games and still going. In his first year, he led his team to the 1994 Class A State Championship, the first in the school's history and won its second Class A State Championship in 1999. He led his teams to 8 League, 2 Section 1 and 2 Regional Championships. He organized and directed the Hoop Academy Basketball Camp, started the annual Jefferson Showcase Event and has conducted basketball coaching clinics. Spencer was an NBA Scout for the Utah Jazz for 23 years. He received Coach of the Year honors 8 times, the Harold Fitzpatrick Community Leadership Award in 2009, and Frank McGuire Foundation Coaches Award honoree in 2008.
