Olean High School, Section 6

 

Coach Martha Altmire led her teams to nearly 500 wins over a thirty-five career. Her team won eighteen league and seven Sectional titles. From 1999-2005 her teams won 63 league games in a row. She was named Coach of the Year many times. She also received a Distinguished Achievement Award. The basketball court at Olean HS is dedicated to her and a Martha Altmire Day was held in Olean. She is a member of the Olean HS Wall of Fame and the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame. The Olean Times presents a “Martha Altmire -Player of the Year Award.”
