During Prof’s basketball coaching career (1927-1952), his teams (boys and girls) had 417 wins, a 69% record. In those 26 years his teams won 8 League Pennants, 12 County Championships and won the Section 4 State Championship with an 18-0 record (1942). He also coached baseball, football and soccer. Prof taught HS sciences and was recognized as an Outstanding Teacher by the NYS Dept. of Ed. He was a referee (a member of NAABO) and was a member of various community organizations. Awards / Honors: County Coach of the Century, first inductee into the Weedsport Sports Hall of Fame. In 1953, the athletic teams were named after him, the “Johnny Greens”. He believed in teaching his players the fundamentals and sportsmanship.
