John Meehan, 2008

Coach John Meehan notched 297 wins in a career that stretched from 1950 thru 1972 as well as coming out of retirement for the 1981-82 season. His teams won 75% of their games. His teams won or were tied for first place in their League eleven times. He led his teams to Sectional and Regional Championships as well as being an Eastern Finalist -as there was no State Tournament during his tenure. Coach Meehan was President of the league numerous times and also served as Section Chairman. He was involved with the inception of the Empire State Games. He coached his team to seventeen consecutive winning seasons, being named Coach of the Year many times. Rondout Valley's Football Field was named for him (he was also the football coach) and he was inducted into the Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
