Howard Garfinkel, 2003
Five-Star Basketball Camp
Howard Garfinkel, along with Will Klein, co-founded the famous Five-Star Basketball Camp. During that time over 300 of their campers have competed in the NBA, which includes ten winners of the coveted Naismith Award. Over 250 of their coaches have gone on to coach at the collegiate and/or NBA levels and over 5,000 of their campers have received basketball scholarships. Garfinkel coached the New York Nationals to 521 wins from 1955-1970. He established the prestigious HSBI Report in 1964 and co-founded the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990. He has been elected to three other Hall’s of Fame: Basketball Old-Timers of America, Pro-Am and the Five-Star Basketball Camp.
