North Rockland, Section 1

Rich Korn served for 27 years as the head girls coach at North Rockland HS.
He led his teams to 370 wins, which made him the winningest girls’ basketball coach in
Rockland County at the time. His teams won 13 league titles, 4 Sectional crowns and 5 time
Rockland County champion. There was no State Championship for girls at the time, but his
1977-78 team won Section 9 and then defeated Mount Vernon of Section 1 for the Regional
Championship, which was as far as you could go. Coach Korn worked at numerous camps. He
was named Coach of the Year several times by the league and section as well as by the
media.
