Joseph R. Murphy has been a teacher, administrator and sports advocate in New York State
for more than 50 years. As Floor Supervisor for Section 2 Sectionals and the New York State
Boys Basketball Tournament for the past 30 years, Joe became the "face" of the Tournament.
Joe is a charter member of the Section 2 Scholar Athlete Committee which honors area
athletes and their achievements in the classroom, community, and on the basketball court.
Joe served as a member of the Section 2 Executive Committee, the Section 2 Basketball
Committee, and the Central Committee for 27 years. Joe recognizes a need for committed
volunteers to support and advance the sport of basketball the game we love.
