Billy Cunningham, 1998

Player & Coach

 

He graduated from Erasmus Hall in NYC, and played college basketball under the tutelage of Dean Smith at the University of North Carolina. He was 3-time All-ACC selection and a 2-time All-American. He was a first round draft choice of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1965,In 1967 he, along with fellow Naismith Hall of Famers, Wilt Chamberlin and Hal Greer, led the 76ers to an N.B.A. title. He played in four N.B.A. All-Star Games. As a Head Coach, he led the 1983 Philadelphia 76ers to the N.B.A. title and was selected as one of the N.B.A.'s 50 Greatest Players in History in 1996.
