LaMay a Glens Falls resident, is a past president of the NYSPHSAA and former director of the New York State Federation Boys' Basketball Tournament. He is the man responsible for developing the state basketball tournament format, as it's known today. During a 20-year basketball coaching career, divided between high schools in Glens Falls, Fort Edward and Saratoga Springs, LaMay guided his teams to a .725 winning percentage.
