The offseason is upon us. The 2013-2014 scholastic basketball season has come to an end. Many great NY raised high school stars are transitioning their talents to the next level and preparing for the 2014-2015 season. Let us take a look at the Top 5 NY high school recruits who are ready to make an impact during their freshman year of college.

Kobe Eubanks ~ 6’5 ~ Shooting Guard ~ Baylor University Kobe played high school basketball for Our Savior New American School on Long Island. He was ranked as the 5th best prospect in all of NY and was graded by scouts as an 80/100. This past season he averaged 18.5 points per game and was heavily recruited by big name college programs including Wichita State, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. Many scouts praise his explosiveness, shooting, and scoring ability, but also consider his game to be very raw at this point. Kobe committed to Baylor on March 18th via his twitter account and is ready to mature and develop into a rotation player for the team. Angel Delgado ~ 6’8 ~ Power Forward ~ Seton Hall University Angel was ranked as the 4th best player in New York State with an overall rating of 87/100. Delgado grew up in the Bronx, NY and played at The Patrick School. He decided to stay in the tri-state area and signed with Seton Hall University this past August. He was recruited heavily by other big name schools including Florida State and The University of Virginia. Rebounding is Delgado’s best attribute and during the 2012-2013 season he averaged nearly 13 rebounds per game. Delgado is Seton Hall’s highest rated recruit since 2002, and he looks to make an immediate impact with the Pirates. Terry Larrier ~ 6’7 ~ Small Forward ~ Virginia Commonwealth University Terry was the third ranked high school player in New York State, the 43rd best player in the nation, and was rated an 87/100 by scouts. Larrier, from the Bronx, attended The Phelps School. He signed with VCU in September of last year after averaging over 20 points and seven rebounds per game in the 2012-2013 campaign. He was also heavily recruited by The University of Connecticut, the 2014 NCAA Champions. Scouts praise Larrier’s explosiveness, longevity, and versatility. Larrier is the highest rated VCU recruit since 1990 and is ready to make an immediate impact at the next level. Chris McCullough ~ 6’10 ~ Power Forward ~ Syracuse University Chris was the 2nd ranked player in NY, the 24th in the nation, and was ranked an outstanding 92/100 by scouts. Averaging 23 points and nine rebounds per game, Chris has established himself as a true force on the basketball court. Scouts love his athleticism, his length, his agility, and his ability to stretch the floor. McCullough joins the long list of great high school basketball stars who have chosen to take their talents to Syracuse. Isaiah Whitehead ~ Shooting Guard ~ Seton Hall University Isaiah is the highest ranked recruit in NY for the 2014 class. A native of Brooklyn, NY who played at Lincoln High School, Whitehead is the 14th ranked player in the nation and received a rating of 95/100 by scouts. He was heavily recruited by Arizona, Florida, Indiana, and Kansas, but ended up choosing Seton Hall, thus making him an even bigger acquisition than Angel Delgado. During the 2013-2014 regular season, he averaged over 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game. According to scouts, he is a true combo guard who is quick off the dribble, competitive on defense, has a high basketball IQ, and is a capable shot maker. Along with Angel Delgado, Isaiah Whitehead looks to help the Seton Hall Pirates improve upon their 17-17 2013-2014 season and help the University become a basketball powerhouse for years to come.
